The 1st Wang Yuanlin Art Award
The call for submissions for the 1st Wang Yuanlin Art Award has been released
In addition to continuing its original intention of encouraging creation, the new award will also focus more on discovering Taiwanese artistic talents and is committed to promoting the internationalization and sustainable development of Taiwanese culture and art. It looks forward to providing more display opportunities for potential artists and making Taiwanese art an important force in the world's cultural dialogue.
The first prize of the "Wang Yuanlin Art Award" has been increased to NT$600,000. At the same time, the winning works will have the opportunity to be exhibited in Taiwan or international art fairs, providing a display and sales platform. This is not only an affirmation of the artist's creation, but also one of the foundation's core missions to promote the international marketing of Taiwan's culture and art. Through this award, the Foundation hopes to showcase to the world the outstanding creations, unique artistic perspectives, and cultural heritage of Taiwanese artists.
▌1. Organizer:
- Consortium legal person Wang Yuanlin Culture and Art Foundation.
▌2. Purpose of the activity:
Discover Taiwanese artistic talents, encourage artistic creation, sustain the marketing of Taiwanese culture and art, and connect with the international community.
▌Participation and Qualifications:
Anyone who is a citizen of the Republic of China and is engaged in oil painting art creation.
▌IV. Competition Theme:
The imagery of Taiwan is used as the creative element.
▌5. Competition Awards:
- Wang Yuanlin Award: One person will receive a prize of NT$600,000, a certificate and a trophy, and the painting will be collected by the foundation. Exhibited from time to time at the Wang Yuanlin Art Museum.
- Selection: Four winners will each receive a prize of NT$80,000 and a certificate, and their works will not be kept.
- Finalists: Several winners will each receive a subsidy of NT$10,000 for materials and transportation costs and a certificate of honor.
The winning works of the Wang Yuanlin Award and the Best Selection may be exhibited at art fairs in Taiwan or internationally arranged by the organizer. For details, please see Article 10 of this guide.
▌6. Rules for entries:
1. Medium: oil painting or acrylic.
II. Works Requirements:
- Works created between 2024 and 2025 must be the entrant’s own creation.
- For the initial review, 8 X 10 color photos must be submitted, three per person, and partial photos are not allowed. Includes one main entry No. 50 and two reference works No. 20 or above.
- The original work must be submitted for the re-examination and must be the same as the photo or painting submitted for the initial examination.
3. Photos of paintings may not be printed out by computer.
4. Any work that has participated in domestic art exhibitions and competitions shall not be submitted in the competition again as the original work. If there is any copying, plagiarism, imitation of other people's works, submission of one's own paintings to the competition under the name of others, or violation of any regulations of this guide, the qualification for the competition will be cancelled and the prize money will be recovered after reporting and confirmation by the judges. The same applies to winners. At the same time, they must bear the relevant administrative costs arising from illegal activities.
5. After the announcement of the winning results, if any painting violates the competition rules, upon reporting and confirmation by the judges, the candidate will be disqualified and the ranking will not be replaced. At the same time, the candidate will not be allowed to participate in this event again in the future.
6. The submitted works must ensure that they do not violate the competition rules and infringe on the intellectual property rights of others. If any related disputes and legal issues arise, the entrants shall bear all responsibilities.

▌VII. Preliminary review and receipt:
1. Receiving documents:
- There are four copies of Form B for the preliminary review submission. It includes one registration form and two submission forms.
- Please do not fold the photos on the submission form. Make sure to paste them according to the specified size and length and width.
- It is recommended to seek the assistance of an expert to avoid affecting your right to participate in the competition.
2. Date of receipt: Registered mail is accepted from December 1 to December 5, 2025. The postmark will be used as proof. Please use an envelope to mail your mail. The original will be returned after the deadline.
3. Mailing address: 19F-1, No. 38, Xinguang Road, Lingya District, Kaohsiung City 802, Taiwan. Please note "The 1st Wang Yuanlin Art Award" competition.
4. The preliminary review materials will not be returned.
5. Preliminary review results: The results will be announced on the official website of the Wang Yuanlin Culture and Art Foundation and notified by special letter in late December 2025.
▌8. Review and Receipt: Participants who pass the initial review will be notified by the organizer.
1. Receiving documents:
- One submission form for review and one main painting for the initial review. Attach a CD or USB drive with a "300 dpi resolution JPG file format image of the work" and indicate the author and the work name on the CD.
- All paintings submitted for review must be framed. The back of the frame must be made of wood and the front of the frame must be made of acrylic (no glass). Do not use nails. When framing, pay attention to whether the oil paint on the painting is dry. In order to protect the paintings, if the regulations are not followed, the organizer will not be responsible for damage and safety. The required shipping costs are borne by the participants.
- There are shortlisted entries. If the painting is damaged during framing, the contestant must repair it by himself before the prize money is issued.
2. Receipt date: January 6 to January 9, 2026. The postmark will be used as the receipt. Original documents will be returned after the expiration date.
3. Mailing address: No. 51, Lane 199, Shuren Road, Dongping Village, Qishan District, Kaohsiung City 842, Kaohsiung City. Please note that it is addressed to the “1st Wang Yuanlin Art Award” competition. Those who wish to send in person please contact the Wang Yuanlin Art Museum at 07-3747165 in advance.
4. Re-examination results: The results will be announced on the official website of the Wang Yuanlin Culture and Art Foundation and notified by special letter in late January 2026.
▌IX. Final Interview: Those who pass the re-examination will be notified in writing to participate in the final interview.

2. Final trial date: a date to be selected between February 2 and February 6, 2026.
3. Final Adjudication Method:
- Presentation idea 10 minutes.
Contains 3 photos of the creation process of the participating paintings, and numbered in chronological order of creation.

4. Contestants who enter the final round must attend in person, and the organizer will provide travel expenses.

▌10. Review Mechanism:
The competition will be judged in three stages: preliminary review, re-review and final review. The organizer will invite well-known painters and professionals to form a judging panel to conduct the judging in a fair and impartial manner. The judging committee has the absolute right to interpret the opinions of the contestants, and the contestants may not have any objection to the judging panel's decision (including whether an award is vacant or adjusted).
▌11. Collection and Use Rights:
1. If the painting is agreed to be collected by the organizer, the copyright transfer agreement must be signed.
2. Based on publicity and promotion needs, the organizers have the right to research, exhibit, photograph, report, print, publish, and post the winning or acquired works in related promotional materials, magazines, and on the Internet.
▌12. Custody Responsibility:
If the works submitted for review are found to be correct and not damaged, the organizer shall be responsible for the safekeeping of the works. However, if the works are damaged during loading and unloading due to force majeure, fragile materials, poor structural installation, or the unpacking diagram is not marked on the boxed works, the organizer will not be liable for compensation.
▌Participation, award ceremony and display of winning works:

2. Participation in Taiwan or international art fairs:
- Providing a platform for the winners to display and sell their paintings, in line with the organizer's goal of sustainable marketing of Taiwanese culture and art and making it famous internationally.

- The organizer will pay for the exhibition booth and publicity costs.
- Paintings on display:
(1) The Wang Yuanlin Award winner shall provide one copy of Painting No. 50 (the original painting has been archived) and the Special Selection Award winner shall provide one copy of the main painting. If the original painting has been archived, the Special Selection Award winner shall provide one copy of Painting No. 50.
(2) Painting No. 50 provided separately must be reviewed and approved by the organizer before it can be exhibited.
3. The winner may cooperate with the organizer free of charge in planning exhibition activities and cooperating in event promotion.
4. All the above works will be sent back by the organizer after the exhibition.
