The 2nd Wang Yuanlin Art Award

▌1. Organizer:

Consortium legal person Wang Yuanlin Culture and Art Foundation.

▌2. Purpose of the activity:

Discover Taiwanese artistic talents, encourage artistic creation, sustain the marketing of Taiwanese culture and art, and connect with the international community.

▌Participation and Qualifications:

Anyone who is a citizen of the Republic of China and is engaged in oil painting art creation.

▌IV. Competition Theme:

The imagery of Taiwan is used as the creative element.

▌5. Competition Awards:

  1. The Wang Yuanlin Award: A prize of NT$600,000, along with a certificate and trophy. The winning artwork will be collected by the foundation and exhibited periodically at the Wang Yuanlin Museum of Art.
  2. First Prize: Four recipients, each receiving NT$80,000 and a certificate. Submitted works will not be collected.
  3. Selected: Several individuals will each receive a NT$10,000 subsidy for materials and transportation, along with a certificate of award.

The winning works of the Wang Yuanlin Award and the Best Selection may be exhibited at art fairs in Taiwan or internationally arranged by the organizer. For details, please see Article 10 of this guide.

▌6. Rules for entries:

I. Medium: Oil or acrylic paints.

II. Works Requirements:

    1. The main submitted work must be created by the participant between 2025 and 2026.
    2. For the initial review, submit 8x10 inch color photographs. One person should have three photos, and the photos must not be close-ups.
      Includes one main competition work (50 items) and two reference works (20 items or more). Reference works are not limited by creation date.
    3. The resubmission for the review must be with the original submitted artwork, and it must be the same as the artwork in the photos submitted for the preliminary review.

3. Photos of paintings may not be printed out by computer.

4. The submitted main works must not have participated in domestic art exhibitions. In case of plagiarism, copying others' creations, submitting one's own artwork under another person's name, or violating any clause of these regulations, the contestant's eligibility will be revoked, and any awards and prize money will be reclaimed upon confirmation by reporting and judging. The contestant will also be responsible for all related administrative expenses incurred by the act of infringement.

5. After the announcement of the winning results, if any painting violates the competition rules, upon reporting and confirmation by the judges, the candidate will be disqualified and the ranking will not be replaced. At the same time, the candidate will not be allowed to participate in this event again in the future.

6. The submitted works must ensure that they do not violate the competition rules and infringe on the intellectual property rights of others. If any related disputes and legal issues arise, the entrants shall bear all responsibilities.

▌VII. Preliminary review and receipt:

1. Receiving documents:

    1. Preliminary Review Submission Form, Type B, four sheets. Includes one application form and three submission forms.
    2. Please do not fold the artwork submission form. Ensure it is attached according to the specified size and with the length and width oriented correctly. It is recommended to seek expert assistance to avoid affecting your eligibility to compete.

II. Receipt Date: December 1, 2026 to December 4, 2026. Registered mail only. Postmark date will be the basis for timeliness. Please send via postal mail in an envelope. Late submissions will be returned.

III. Recipient Address: No. 51, Alley 199, Shuren Road, Dongping Village, Cishan District, Kaohsiung City 842, Taiwan. Please mark for the "2nd Wang Yuan Lin Art Award" competition.

4. The preliminary review materials will not be returned.

V. Preliminary Review Results: To be announced on the official website of the "Wang Yuanlin Cultural and Artistic Foundation" and notified by special letter in late December 2026.

▌8. Review and Receipt: Participants who pass the initial review will be notified by the organizer.

1. Receiving documents:

    1. One re-submission form and one original artwork for the preliminary review. Please enclose a CD or USB drive with a JPG file of the artwork at 300dpi resolution. Please write the author's name and artwork title on the CD.
    2. All submitted artworks for review must be framed. The back of the frame must be equipped with a wooden board, and the front with acrylic (glass is not permitted). Do not use a staple gun for assembly. When framing, please pay attention to whether the oil paint on the artwork is dry. To protect the artwork, if the above requirements are not met, the organizer will not be responsible for any damage or safety issues. All shipping costs are to be borne by the participant.
    3. There are shortlisted entries. If the painting is damaged during framing, the contestant must repair it by himself before the prize money is issued.

II. Receipt Date: Tuesday, January 5, 2027, to Friday, January 8, 2027, postmark date applies. Late submissions will be returned.
The Wang Yuanlin Art Museum is closed on Mondays and cannot receive packages.

3. Recipient Address: No. 51, Lane 199, Shuren Road, Dongping Village, Qishan District, Kaohsiung City 842. Please note "2nd Wang Yuanlin Art Award Competition" on the package. For hand delivery, please contact Wang Yuanlin Art Museum at 07-3747165 in advance during business hours.

IV. Review Results: Results will be announced on the official website of the "Wang Yuan Lin Cultural and Artistic Foundation" and notified by special letter in late January 2027.

▌IX. Final Interview: Those who pass the re-examination will be notified in writing to participate in the final interview.

I. Final Judging Location: 19F-1, No. 38, Xinguang Rd., Lingya Dist., Kaohsiung City 802.

II. Final Judging Date: Saturday, January 30, 2027, starting at 2:00 PM.

3. Final Adjudication Method:

    1. Presentation Creation Concept 10 Minutes.
      Includes 3 photos of the creation process for the submitted artworks, numbered and described in chronological order of creation.
      Display personal competition winning works, data, or studio photos in PDF format.
    2. The review committee will ask questions for 10 minutes.

4. Entrants proceeding to the final interview must attend in person. The organizer will provide travel expenses.

V. Final Judging Results: To be announced on the official website of the "Wang Yuan Lin Cultural and Arts Foundation" and notified by special letter in early February 2027.

▌10. Review Mechanism:

The competition will undergo a three-stage judging process: preliminary review, final review, and final interview. The organizing body will appoint a judging committee composed of renowned artists and professionals to conduct the evaluation in a fair and just manner. The judges have the absolute right of interpretation, and participants shall have no objections to the decisions of the judging committee (including the awarding or forfeiture of prizes and any adjustments).

▌11. Collection and Use Rights:

1. If the painting is agreed to be collected by the organizer, the copyright transfer agreement must be signed.

2. Based on publicity and promotion needs, the organizers have the right to research, exhibit, photograph, report, print, publish, and post the winning or acquired works in related promotional materials, magazines, and on the Internet.

▌12. Custody Responsibility:

If the works submitted for review are found to be correct and not damaged, the organizer shall be responsible for the safekeeping of the works. However, if the works are damaged during loading and unloading due to force majeure, fragile materials, poor structural installation, or the unpacking diagram is not marked on the boxed works, the organizer will not be liable for compensation.

▌Participation, award ceremony and display of winning works:

1. Award Ceremony and Exhibition of Winning Works:
Time and place will be determined and announced later.

2. Participation in Taiwan or international art fairs:

    1. Providing a platform for the winners to display and sell their paintings, in line with the organizer's goal of sustainable marketing of Taiwanese culture and art and making it famous internationally.
    2. Time and place will be determined and announced later.
    3. The organizer will pay for the exhibition booth and publicity costs.
    4. Paintings on display:
      • The winner of the Wang Yuanlin Award will also provide one painting, size #50 (the original artwork has already been collected), and the winner of the honorable mention will provide one of their award-winning paintings. If the award-winning painting has already been collected, they will provide one painting, size #50.
      • Painting No. 50, provided separately, requires approval from the organizer before it can be exhibited.

3. The winner may cooperate with the organizer free of charge in planning exhibition activities and cooperating in event promotion.

IV. All of the above works will be returned by the organizer after the exhibition.
